NEA deputy director Ge Ju said oil and gas account for roughly one-third of
China’s terminal energy consumption, concentrated in transport and industry,
leaving substantial substitution potential. Beijing will push electricity
substitution and aims to raise electricity’s share of terminal energy
consumption to about 35% by 2030; in transport the NEA plans an
urban-highway-rural charging and swap network with more than 40 million charging
facilities by 2030, supporting charging capacity for over 110 million electric
vehicles.
