At a Nov. 6 regular briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said
China-Japan relations are facing serious difficulties and placed responsibility
entirely on Japan. He said about a year ago Japanese leaders made erroneous
Taiwan-related remarks that openly signaled intent to use force to intervene in
Taiwan affairs, challenging China’s sovereignty and undermining the politics
basis of bilateral ties. Guo said Japan has shown no sincere reflection or
corrective action, and reiterated China’s unchanged position: Japan should
promptly correct its Taiwan-related words and deeds, adopt a correct attitude on
historical issues and form an objective, rational view of China.
