Ambassador Dai Bing told a Korea-China Economic Association forum that
China–South Korea economic ties have entered a phase prioritizing quality and
resilience, evolving from vertical division to horizontal collaboration. He
described “compete in cooperation, cooperate in competition” as the new normal
and said global economic turbulence presents both challenges and major
historical opportunities. Dai urged joint efforts to promote an open
Asia‑Pacific economy and to safeguard international free trade and supply‑chain
stability. He called for implementing the two leaders’ consensus to deepen
existing cooperation and expand collaboration in AI, digital industries and
biopharma, leveraging China’s large market and geographic proximity to shift
from industrial complementarity toward innovation co-development.
