[Baltic Dry Index hits 23-month low] The Baltic Dry Index continued its decline on Thursday, hitting a 23-month low, dragged down by weaker freight rates for various ship types. The Baltic Dry Index fell 69 points to 824 points, the lowest level since February 2023. The Capesize Index fell 155 points to a more than five-week low of 1,081 points. Capesize daily earnings fell by $1,285 to $8,967. The Panamax Index fell 39 points to 804 points, the lowest level since June 2020. Panamax daily earnings fell by $346 to $7,239. The Ultramax Index fell 20 points to 654 points, hitting its lowest point since February 2023.
