He said President Trump’s priority is preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and that the US shifted from “Operation Epic Fury” to degrade Iran’s military to a new “Operation Economic Isolation” targeting its economy. There are no talks now and that posture will continue until the president judges Iran might meaningfully sit down; he has not seen that. LEAVITT added that a maritime blockade remains in effect.

[White House: No Negotiations with Iran at Present, All Options Under Consideration] White House Press Secretary Levitt said in an interview with Fox News on Thursday that the United States and Iran are not currently negotiating to end the war because Washington is focused on exerting economic pressure on Tehran, but all options remain "on the table." "President Trump's primary goal has always been and will always be to ensure that Iran never acquires nuclear weapons. It's that simple. Therefore, we launched Operation Epic Fury to destroy their military capabilities. Now, we have launched Operation Economic Isolation to destroy their economy," Levitt said. "There are currently no negotiations taking place, and this will continue until the president believes they might come to the negotiating table in a meaningful way. We haven't seen that yet." Levitt stated, "He certainly continues to keep all options open, and the naval blockade remains in effect."
