China National Nuclear Corporation said the second unit at the SuperCarbon‑1 supercritical CO2 (sCO2) waste‑heat power project in Liupanshui, Guizhou, has been grid‑connected. The achievement completes the world's first demonstration project for sCO2 waste‑heat power generation. Once both units are in service, SuperCarbon‑1 will deliver 30 MW of stable installed capacity.

Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force said on May 30 it canceled a planned early-June US Marine Corps F-35B deck-landing exercise aboard escort ship JS Kaga in the western Pacific. The service cited "unit operational scheduling and expected severe weather". The exercise was among steps toward the ship's "de facto aircraft carrier" capability; earlier reports said Japan's Defense Ministry planned two major refits to enable F-35B operations.

At the Shangri-La Dialogue, US defense secretary Hegseth referred to the recent US-China leaders' meeting and its consensus. Meng Xiangqing, head of a Chinese PLA expert delegation, said the summit drew strong attention at Shangri-La and underscored that stable US‑China ties matter for regional stability and global peace. He said China expects both sides to implement the leaders' consensus and to guide military-to-military relations toward a healthy, stable and sustainable trajectory.
