The Kremlin said Russia's overnight strikes on Ukraine will usher in a "new paradigm", blaming Kyiv's "inhumane terror actions".

Iran's deputy foreign minister said if a decision to attack the capital of a sovereign state can be reversed by a single phone call, the key question is why, despite Western political and military support, months of ceasefire violations, aggression against Lebanon, mass displacement and threats to that state's sovereignty have persisted.

On June 2 Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said the government has formally written to the Thai government and the UN Secretariat to initiate compulsory conciliation under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea over overlapping maritime areas. Phnom Penh said it will set out its position and pursue resolution under international law and peaceful means. Thailand’s prime minister’s office spokesman Rachada said on May 5 the cabinet decided to annul a 2001 memorandum with Cambodia on overlapping maritime areas and instead use UNCLOS mechanisms to better protect national interests; the 2001 memorandum had focused on negotiating a maritime boundary and joint exploitation of offshore oil resources.
