The White House said President Trump signed an executive order to promote advanced AI innovation and security. The order directs the National Security Systems Committee to prioritize cyber defenses for national security systems and take appropriate, rapid action within 30 days of issuance. It requires a classified benchmark evaluation process to assess advanced AI models' cyber-defense capabilities and to determine when models should be designated as "protected frontier models." The U.S. will seek access to frontier models up to 30 days before public release and will select trusted AI partners within 60 days.

CENTCOM said on June 2 US forces in the Arabian Gulf took action against a tanker bound for Iran’s Kharg Island, rendering it dead in the water. The Botswana-flagged tanker "Lexie" had ignored US warnings and orders multiple times within 24 hours and failed to comply with blockade measures, CENTCOM said. A US aircraft fired a Hellfire missile into the vessel’s engine room, causing loss of propulsion. CENTCOM said that since April 13, as part of measures to block maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports, US forces have disabled six commercial vessels and diverted 122 ships. A US-Iran ceasefire remains in place.
