Gold has traded choppily and investor uncertainty has reduced gold ETF assets. As of June 3, 14 gold ETFs posted combined net outflows exceeding CNY10bn over the past month. The previously common "buy-the-dip" view is splintering amid the volatility. Market contacts expect short-term price oscillation to persist, but say the core medium-to-long-term case for holding gold remains intact.

The National Financial Regulatory Administration’s Shanghai bureau, Shanghai Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, PBOC Shanghai Branch and the Office of the Shanghai Municipal Financial Work Committee issued a notice launching a pilot of eldercare service trusts in Shanghai. The pilot will leverage trusts’ asset segregation, flexible planning and long-term management to integrate eldercare services with financial resources, and link with experimental “intentional guardianship” practices to develop safe, stable and sustainable comprehensive eldercare finance solutions for older adults and pre-elderly groups. Authorities intend the pilot to produce new eldercare trust products, scale high-quality eldercare service providers, deliver demonstrative cases, establish a Shanghai eldercare trust brand and form a city-level template for eldercare finance.
