On June 16 China's Premier Li Qiang met Myanmar president Min Aung Hlaing in
Beijing. Li said China will deepen high‑quality Belt and Road cooperation and
accelerate major China‑Myanmar Economic Corridor projects, further extend
benefits from China's zero‑tariff policy and expand bilateral trade. He flagged
expanded cooperation in renewable energy, artificial intelligence and the
digital economy. Both sides agreed to strengthen law‑enforcement cooperation to
tackle cross‑border online gambling and telecom fraud and to protect Chinese
personnel, institutions and projects in Myanmar. Li also called for closer
coordination in multilateral forums including the UN, Lancang‑Mekong cooperation
and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to defend developing countries'
interests.
