China's imports totaled 10.74 trillion yuan in 1H, the first time imports in the period exceeded 10 trillion, up 22.1% YoY and outpacing export growth by 8.7 percentage points, Customs deputy head Wang Jun said. Import growth contributed more to foreign-trade expansion and helped rebalance trade. China has been the world's second-largest import market for 17 consecutive years, with average annual import growth of 5.1% and its share of global imports rising from 7.9% to about 10%. Customs said actively expanding imports is a necessary policy; Beijing has implemented zero-tariff measures covering 63 countries and hosted international import, consumer and supply-chain expos. Imports from more than 150 countries and regions rose in 1H.

A-share Sci-Tech Innovation 50 Index rallied over 1% in the afternoon after earlier plunging as much as nearly 5%; Beijing Stock Exchange 50 Index rose more than 2%.
