U.S. Central Command said on July 16 it forced three merchant vessels attempting
to breach the blockade to change course and rendered one non‑compliant ship
inoperative. CENTCOM said the Strait of Hormuz and adjacent waters remain open
to navigation except for vessels attempting to violate the U.S. blockade. On
July 14 CENTCOM said it had resumed a maritime blockade of ships entering or
exiting Iranian ports and coastal waters at 16:00 EDT (23:30 Tehran time).
