By the 23:00 close, China's main futures contracts were mixed with more advances than declines: soybean meal, rapeseed meal, fuel oil, palm oil, low-sulfur fuel oil (LU), p-xylene and soybean No.2 rose over 1%; soda ash was up nearly 1%. On the downside, synthetic rubber and ethylene glycol (EG) fell more than 1%, while styrene (EB) was down almost 1%.

U.S. EIA implied crude oil demand for week to July 17: 19.32 mln b/d, down from 19.79 mln b/d previously.

Shanghai municipal government issued its 15th Five-Year Plan to accelerate development of an international shipping center, directing creation of an industry-leading international shipping trading platform offering one-stop ship and aviation asset trading. The plan mandates maintaining stable operation of shipping index futures, strengthening risk controls on underlying indices, cultivating industry clients and exploring new shipping-index futures products. It also calls for leveraging Shanghai’s local carbon market experience to orderly expand shipping and aviation firms’ participation in carbon emissions trading.
