Japan's Nikkei 225 closed July 28 (Tuesday) down 2,566.27 points, or 3.95%, at 62,364.92. South Korea's KOSPI closed July 28 down 732.12 points, or 10.84%, at 6,023.63, after an intraday drop of more than 11% below 6,000; the index is down nearly 30% month-to-date. SK Hynix fell more than 14% and Samsung Electronics fell more than 13%.

SK Hynix (SKHY.O) ADR hit a record low on Monday after its $26.5 bln US listing earlier this month, retreating as investors exited high‑valuation semiconductor names. The stock plunged as much as 10% intraday to $139.01, below the $149 issue price, and closed at $143.02. SK Hynix is among the first of this year’s largest US IPOs to trade below their offer price, alongside SpaceX. The semiconductor sector extended recent losses, with the sector index closing at its lowest level since May 19. Cost of default protection on NVIDIA (NVDA.O) corporate debt rose as a new wave of AI infrastructure deals could exceed $750 bln.
