The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (HSCEI) closed down 32.56 points (0.38%) at 8,612.15, and the Hang Seng Red Chip Index closed down 57.30 points (1.35%) at 4,193.12.

The Communist Party Politburo held its 27th collective study on July 30 on advancing high-quality modernization of national defense and the armed forces.
