Iraq on Sunday denied reports that US aircraft landed at the Ain al-Asad airbase in western Anbar province, calling the reports false and saying there was no official information to support the claim. Iraqi media had earlier reported that US aircraft had landed at the base.

Hamas leader Ghazi Hamad said today’s Israeli bombardment of Gaza proves Israel never genuinely sought a deal. He said Hamas has told mediators Israel is not interested in reaching an agreement and has asked them to intervene. Hamas also said it has not received Israel’s position on a second phase of a Gaza agreement and that Israel must fulfil its commitments before that phase can begin.

The Russian military said Ukrainian drones carried out overnight strikes on an oil refinery in Saratov, triggering a fire. Ukrainian forces said they destroyed the refinery and also attacked a nearby air base that hosts Tu-95 long-range strategic bombers Russia uses to launch cruise missiles at Ukraine. Russia said its forces struck infrastructure in the Ukrainian port city of Mykolaiv, hit two vessels carrying military cargo, and struck a ship in the Black Sea. Saratov is about 730 km southeast of Moscow and more than 1,000 km from Kyiv.
