Indonesian equities rose on Monday, with the Jakarta Composite Index up as much
as 0.8% and roughly 20% higher from its early‑June low, bringing it close to
conventional bull‑market territory. PT Bank Central Asia and PT Merdeka Copper
Gold were the largest contributors. Stronger‑than‑expected economic data and
President Subianto’s plan to scale back an ambitious free‑meal program eased
investor concerns about fiscal strain. MSCI’s June decision to postpone a
country‑index review and S&P Global Ratings’ decision to maintain Indonesia’s
sovereign rating also helped stabilise the market.
