Existing‑home sales in the US fell 1.7% MoM in July to a 4.06 mln annualized pace, a three‑month low and in line with the median economist forecast, the National Association of Realtors said. The report said persistently high listing prices and rising mortgage borrowing costs continue to deter buyers. The resale market has hovered around a roughly 4.0 mln annualized pace since late‑2022. NAR chief economist Lawrence Yun said sales have been very steady and that if average mortgage rates returned near 6% the market would undoubtedly boom.

JP Morgan said global gas-turbine orders in Apr–Jun hit a record about 38 GW, up 29% QoQ and 71% YoY, driven by a sharp rise in power demand. The US accounted for nearly half of orders. Analysts led by Phil Buller said data-center expansion and broader electrification underpinned the surge; natural gas burns cleaner than coal and offers greater reliability than wind or solar. Supply constraints have emerged, with shortages in regions including Southeast Asia limiting delivery of planned capacity. Analysts said a combined-cycle gas turbine scheduled for 2031 delivery would cost roughly three times the price of the same unit delivered last year.
