This week the S&P 500 rose 0.4%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.6%, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.1%.

China will host the third APEC senior officials' meeting and related sessions in Dalian, Liaoning, Aug. 17-28, as host of APEC 2026. Organisers say it will be the largest senior officials' meeting to date, with roughly 130 sessions covering trade, transport, food, customs, technology, energy, health, disaster reduction and anti-corruption. About 2,300 delegates are expected from APEC economies, the APEC Secretariat, the APEC Business Advisory Council and the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council. The meeting aims to secure cooperation outcomes across APEC mechanisms to prepare for the November leaders' meeting.

According to the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA), Iranian foreign minister Araghchi said Iran has not decided whether to resume talks with the United States. Qatar and Pakistan, acting as coordinators, are exchanging information with Iran, but that does not mean the US and Iran have entered negotiations.
