Shanghai Municipal Sports Bureau issued a sports development plan with targets
for 2030 and 2035. By 2030 the city aims to advance toward a globally renowned
sports city, consolidate a 'one city, one capital, four centers' development
framework, materially increase public participation in sports, expand the
economic contribution from sporting events, and strengthen technology-driven
support and integration of sports into urban infrastructure. By 2035 the plan
targets elevation to a higher-level globally renowned sports city with sports
development ranked among the global leaders.
