On Aug. 24 in Beijing CHINA and Jordan's King Abdullah II discussed the Middle
East. CHINA called for an immediate, comprehensive ceasefire and
political-diplomatic resolution, stressing that regional states' sovereignty and
security, including Jordan's, must be respected. CHINA said the Palestinian
issue is central and set out a four-point approach: (1) pursue a political
solution anchored on a two-state framework and push to restart
Israeli-Palestinian talks to enable early Palestinian statehood; (2) uphold
Palestinian-led governance for West Bank administration and Gaza post-war
reconstruction; (3) prioritize humanitarian protection — urge the UN Security
Council and international community to protect civilians and ensure aid to avert
a humanitarian catastrophe; (4) seek a fair, law-based outcome, addressing root
causes and symptoms through pragmatic action to achieve a comprehensive, just
and durable settlement.
