Beijing Meteorological Observatory at 09:00 on Aug 25 issued a yellow heavy-rain
warning: from the afternoon into the night of Aug 25 showers and thunderstorms
will move west to east across the city, with most areas seeing hourly rainfall
of 50mm+ and isolated locations accumulating over 100mm; mountainous and
foothill areas may face secondary hazards including flash floods, debris flows
and landslides, and low-lying districts are prone to inundation. At 09:00 the
Beijing Municipal Water Authority and Meteorological Bureau jointly issued a
yellow mountain-flood risk warning, effective from 09:00 Aug 25, for possible
mountain floods in the city's mountainous zones. At 09:00 they also issued a
blue urban waterlogging risk warning, effective from 09:00 Aug 25, indicating a
general risk of pooling and urban inundation in central districts.
