South Korea's KOSPI opened down 12.32 points, or 0.18%, at 6,730.42 on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix each slipped less than 1%.

The FDA has approved Revolution Medicines' pancreatic cancer drug Daraxonrasib, which will be marketed as Rasonque. The drug is the first therapy targeting one of the disease's key molecular pathogenic mechanisms. A late-stage trial published in May showed Daraxonrasib nearly doubled typical survival in an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer to 13.2 months versus 6.7 months with chemotherapy, the current standard of care.
