HSI was up 0.47% and the Hang Seng Tech Index gained 0.6% at midday. Telecom and network-infrastructure names led the advance: 01300.HK and 01473.HK rose over 4%, 03308.HK climbed over 3%. Mainland property stocks rallied broadly — CIFI Holdings (00884.HK) and SUNAC CHINA (01918.HK) added more than 5%, Yuexiu Property (00123.HK) and Ronshine China (03301.HK) rose near 4%. PCB and memory-related names underperformed: 02476.HK fell over 7%, while 03986.HK and 06809.HK dropped about 3%.

JP Morgan economist Takuho Morimoto says underlying inflation in the Tokyo metropolitan area may be materially higher than official readings. After stripping policy subsidies such as discounts to utility bills and childcare fees, CPI excluding fresh food and energy could be around 2.5% versus the 2.0% released on Friday and above the Bank of Japan’s 2% target. "We expect inflation to accelerate further before year‑end, which will increase pressure on the Bank of Japan and raise the risk that delayed policy response could prove costly," he said.
