The PBOC says China’s RMB cross-border payment system now covers 192 countries and regions. PBOC Deputy Governor Lu Lei said that as of end-June 2026 the system had 210 direct participants and 1,619 indirect participants, with services available through more than 5,200 banking institutions. The central bank said it will accelerate construction and rollout of a fast payment system and continue to advance cross-border QR-code interoperability, strengthening global RMB settlement capacity.

Iran's foreign ministry urged countries to avoid implementing US sanctions and said Iran is determined to use all available capabilities to defend the country against the "US-Israel joint military and economic offensive".

Aug 28 — Iran's foreign ministry said the U.S. has launched a new round of sanctions it called "economic terrorism," equating the measures to state terrorism. The statement accused Washington of abusing the dollar as a tool, coercing other states to accept its interventionist, law-violating Iran policy and infringing sovereign rights and UN members' rights. It said, given their nature and consequences, the sanctions seriously violate the UN Charter and are a continuation of U.S. and Israeli aggression over the past 18 months that threatens regional and international peace and security.
