The PBOC says China’s RMB cross-border payment system now covers 192 countries
and regions. PBOC Deputy Governor Lu Lei said that as of end-June 2026 the
system had 210 direct participants and 1,619 indirect participants, with
services available through more than 5,200 banking institutions. The central
bank said it will accelerate construction and rollout of a fast payment system
and continue to advance cross-border QR-code interoperability, strengthening
global RMB settlement capacity.
