Aug 28 — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said US claims the Strait of Hormuz is open are false and intended to influence oil prices and mask failure. The IRGC said its control of the strategic waterway is absolute and ordered that any vessel attempting to transit without coordination with Iran will not be permitted. The navy said the restriction will remain in place until US military actions against Iran end and the US fulfills its obligations.

At the Gyirong mudslide site in Shigatse, Tibet, the G216 national highway was blocked, hampering rescue operations. On the 29th the Ministry of Emergency Management dispatched China Aneng Engineering teams; 60 technical and skilled personnel and 28 pieces of engineering rescue equipment, including excavators and loaders, are conducting road-clearing to allow personnel and heavy machinery access. Teams are performing real-time hazard monitoring. After sustained clearance work, 2.5 km of road has been reopened; 1.8 km remains to the Gyirong border port.
