China Coast Guard East China Sea Branch spokesman Zhu Anqing said on Aug 29 Fujian coastguard carried out a routine law-enforcement patrol in waters near Kinmen. Since early August Fujian coastguard flotillas have tightened control in the area to protect fishermen on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and their life and property, and to safeguard normal navigation and operations in Xiamen-Kinmen waters.

Aug 28 — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said US claims the Strait of Hormuz is open are false and intended to influence oil prices and mask failure. The IRGC said its control of the strategic waterway is absolute and ordered that any vessel attempting to transit without coordination with Iran will not be permitted. The navy said the restriction will remain in place until US military actions against Iran end and the US fulfills its obligations.
