TankerTrackers says that over the last full seven-day period crude cargoes on vessels departing a US naval blockade line averaged 6.7 mln barrels per day. The estimate uses AIS data plus hundreds of daily satellite images; it includes tankers that switched off AIS identified by imagery and vessels that only reactivated AIS several days after leaving the blockade line.

Iranian parliament speaker Ghalibaf dismissed U.S. Treasury official Bessent’s claim that the U.S. guided 130 million barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz in the past 14 days, calling the assertion false. Ghalibaf cited a June Moody’s survey saying the Iran war has cost U.S. taxpayers at least $132 billion, alleged trading firm Jane Street lost more than $130 million on a single futures roll after shorting oil, and said yields are “on fire,” referring to the recent spike in U.S. long-term Treasury yields.

Somalia’s defence ministry said on Aug 29 a joint Somali-Turkish naval operation freed the cargo vessel Latufu, seized on Aug 17 in northeast Somali waters. The 10-day operation destroyed four pirate boats, killed 14 pirates and forced the remainder to abandon the ship, and was carried out under a Somalia-Turkey defence cooperation agreement.
