In Amman, Jordan's king reiterated support for Lebanon and endorsed the Lebanese army's efforts to protect the country's security and sovereignty.

The Ministry of Emergency Management said it dispatched "Yuyan Emergency" reconnaissance and heavy-lift drones to continuously monitor the Puzhepqiang Cangbu barrier lake in Gyirong (Jilong) County, Shigatse, Tibet, and to assist local rescue operations. On the evening of Aug. 29 a forward-monitoring drone detected a landslide 2.8 km downstream that created a new dam body and is forming a new barrier lake. The ministry convened experts for assessment and has moved rescue personnel near Gyirong port to safety.

Multiple senior aides have resigned from President Trump’s team over the past month, forcing greater reliance on a smaller inner circle. Departures include the chief spokesperson, the top legal counsel, a key national security adviser and the senior official for congressional liaison; White House press secretary Leavitt left this month. Additional senior officials are reportedly considering departures in coming months. The resignations come as Republicans face the risk of losing their congressional majority in November’s midterms; if Democrats win control of Congress, the administration could face subpoenas and investigations. Finding replacements is said to be difficult.
