Sept. 1 — A kickoff meeting for China’s national pilot on international
cooperation in the data sector was held in Nansha, Guangzhou. Provincial,
municipal, district and Hong Kong and Macao representatives formally launched
the pilot, marking a step forward in Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao data coordination
and introducing a 'Guangzhou solution' for cross‑border data flows. Ye Yichao,
director of the Data Elements Circulation Office at the Guangzhou Municipal
Administration for Government Services and Data Management, said Guangzhou will
leverage the Greater Bay Area’s hub role, use Nansha as a gateway, and
coordinate Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao to build a data cooperation pilot
zone.
