National Climate Center deputy director Gao Rong said on Sept 2 China is likely
to see 2–3 typhoons make landfall or otherwise materially affect the country in
September. A new typhoon may form within the next 10 days and could impact the
southeast coast. Typhoon Shadhel in the South China Sea will turn west-southwest
from Sept 3 and continue to affect South China and southern Jiangnan.
