National Climate Center deputy director Gao Rong said on Sept 2 China is likely to see 2–3 typhoons make landfall or otherwise materially affect the country in September. A new typhoon may form within the next 10 days and could impact the southeast coast. Typhoon Shadhel in the South China Sea will turn west-southwest from Sept 3 and continue to affect South China and southern Jiangnan.
