China's Shanghai and Shenzhen markets recorded combined turnover of 1.79 tln
yuan on Sept. 2, down from the prior session and marking a tenth consecutive
trading day below the 20-day moving average of 2.20 tln yuan, which has
oscillated around that level since August. Turnover below the 20-day average—a
proxy for aggregate institutional, speculative and retail participation—signals
cooling market activity and softer sentiment.
