China's Shanghai and Shenzhen markets recorded combined turnover of 1.79 tln yuan on Sept. 2, down from the prior session and marking a tenth consecutive trading day below the 20-day moving average of 2.20 tln yuan, which has oscillated around that level since August. Turnover below the 20-day average—a proxy for aggregate institutional, speculative and retail participation—signals cooling market activity and softer sentiment.

On Sept 2, U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman in Maryland issued a preliminary injunction preventing the Trump administration from enforcing a new executive order that sought to deny automatic U.S. citizenship to newborns whose parents are neither U.S. citizens nor lawful permanent residents. Trump signed the order after returning to the White House in January 2025. The U.S. Supreme Court on June 30 had ruled to overturn the order.

Horizon Robotics said cumulative mass production of its Zhengcheng series automated-driving chips has exceeded 15 mln units. The chips are partnered with more than 40 vehicle brands and have secured design wins on 500 production models, including nearly 130 mid-to-high-level automated-driving models. Horizon's on-hand design-win volume exceeds 20 mln units.
