Toyota Motor Corp is considering using hydrogen to power trucks that transport
auto parts as gasoline price rises and supply tightness from the Iran war make
alternative fuels more attractive. Using hydrogen within suppliers’ logistics
networks is also being explored. The move is part of Toyota’s commitment as a
member of the Japan Hydrogen Association (JH2A) to deploy hydrogen for 1% of all
logistics, fuel and raw‑material transport. As of last month 67 companies and
institutions had joined the initiative, including banks, trading companies,
insurers and local governments.
