China's grain enterprises reported annual industrial output value above 4 tln yuan and total about 24,000 firms; more than one-third of provinces register output above 100 bln yuan. The National Hurricane Center said on the 4th Hurricane Lowell rapidly intensified to a Category 5 storm, with maximum sustained winds near 160 mph (257 km/h). As of the afternoon of the 4th local time the storm's center was about 990 km (615 miles) south of Lihue, Hawaii. It is expected to bring damaging winds, heavy rain and storm surge. Hawaii has declared a state of emergency.
