Qatari prime minister and foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed spoke by phone with the Lebanese prime minister, urging calm amid rising regional tensions and discussing de-escalation measures and maritime security. Qatar reiterated support for diplomatic efforts to safeguard freedom of navigation and to pave the way for a comprehensive agreement toward durable regional peace, and reaffirmed backing for Lebanon's stability and territorial integrity.

Heavy rains have caused flooding in parts of Jiangxi, including Nanchang and Ji'an. On Sept. 5 the National Commission for Disaster Reduction and the Ministry of Emergency Management activated a national level-4 disaster emergency response. On Sept. 5 midday local time, air-traffic data showed a US government aircraft carrying presidential envoy Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Kushner entered Russian airspace and a motorcade reached Moscow’s Vnukovo airport. Trump confirmed on Sept. 4 the pair will visit Russia and Ukraine carrying a proposal to end the war. Speaking at the White House, Trump said the Ukraine crisis “must be resolved,” that he sent Witkoff and Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv “to see if something can be arranged,” and that it is “very possible” they will succeed.
