CPCA secretary-general Cui Dongshu posted on Sept. 7 that in August 2026 ten
models cut prices, 13 fewer y/y; of those, two were conventional ICE models (−3
y/y) and six were battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) (−8 y/y). For Jan–Aug 2026,
100 models cut prices, 36 fewer y/y; breakdown: conventional ICE 36 (flat y/y),
hybrids 5 (+1 y/y), plug‑in hybrids (PHEVs) 22 (flat), range‑extended models 6
(−4 y/y), and BEVs 31 (−33 y/y). Among discounted new‑energy vehicles (NEVs) in
Jan–Aug the average list price was 264,000 yuan and the mean discount was 30,000
yuan (11.5%). In August the average list price of discounted NEV models was
256,000 yuan and the mean discount was 45,000 yuan (17.8%).
