On Sept. 21 MOFCOM minister RAIMONDO met VDA chairman Müller to discuss China-Germany auto cooperation and China-EU trade ties. RAIMONDO said China is not the root cause of EU trade problems and positioned China as a partner for joint solutions, warning against EU protectionism and market closures that could prompt global reciprocal restrictions. He said China will pursue auto-sector issues within the China-EU trade and investment consultation mechanism under principles of compliance, balance and non-discrimination, and urged the VDA to push the German government and European Commission to engage constructively with China and seek mutually acceptable solutions through dialogue.

Interfax, citing the Russian Defense Ministry, reported that Russia carried out large-scale strikes on targets in Ukraine.
