The Information reports DeepMind head Demis Kavukcuoglu said on Wednesday Google will release its next flagship model, Gemini 4. The model is in an early post‑training (fine‑tuning) stage of development. After falling behind Anthropic and OpenAI in the AI model race, Google says it plans to publish an early post‑training result as soon as possible and hopes to release the model well before year‑end, then continue rapid iterative updates.

Ahead of the Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays, MOFCOM held a video conference directing local commerce authorities to bolster supplies of daily necessities. It instructed key suppliers to strengthen production–sales coordination, broaden sourcing and raise inventories of fresh produce and mooncakes, and urged major cities and tourist areas to pre-lock supplies and prepare transport. In coordination with other departments, authorities released 5,100 tonnes of central reserve frozen beef and mutton for ethnic minority regions to boost holiday meat supply. MOFCOM will implement daily monitoring during the holiday period to track supply and demand and ensure market stability.

Poland’s operational command said a Russian Mi-8 military helicopter from the Kaliningrad exclave briefly violated NATO-member Poland’s airspace on Wednesday, remaining inside for 42 seconds and penetrating about 300 metres (328 yards). Fighters were scrambled and ground forces put on alert; the statement said the incident indicates Russia was testing Poland’s air-defence readiness. Poland said it remains highly vigilant to any airspace incursions related to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
