Beibu Gulf Port Co. said a vessel carrying 168,000 tonnes of Guinean bauxite
docked at Fangchenggang on Oct. 1 and completed berthing, unloading, storage and
rail-dispatch operations. The first batch departed by rail to Wanzhou, Chongqing
on Oct. 3 to supply Bosai Mining’s Wanzhou plant. The new logistics chain —
overseas mine to Beibu Gulf Port entry to direct rail to Chongqing — replaces
traditional Yangtze river-sea transport and cuts overall transit time by about
25 days.
