On the 14th in Baku, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev met China foreign minister Wang Yi. China congratulated Azerbaijan’s development under Aliyev, expressed support for its chosen development path and said it will deepen cooperation on the Middle Corridor transport route, positioning China as a trusted long-term strategic partner. Beijing thanked Baku for its support on China’s core-interest issues and reaffirmed support for Azerbaijan’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. China said its rise strengthens the Global South, pledged continued coordination to protect developing countries’ shared interests and backed Azerbaijan’s role in CICA and other multilateral forums to support regional and global stability.

Media reported BHP and the main union at the Escondida copper mine in Chile have reached a preliminary agreement, lowering the risk of an immediate strike at the world's largest copper mine. The deal is expected to be submitted to union members for a vote; the union said the benefits and severance terms are superior to BHP’s Oct. 12 proposal. BHP’s earlier offer included a final severance payment and a low‑interest loan, totalling about $30,000 per worker. Negotiations began only hours before the planned walkout in an 11th‑hour bid to avoid disruptions to global copper supply.
