China's UN ambassador Fu Cong told a UNGA high-level meeting on climate adaptation Beijing seeks stronger global climate governance and faster, fair green transitions. He set out three priorities: reinforce multilateral action to fully implement the UNFCCC and Paris Agreement; accelerate a green, just transition with nationally determined pathways and build a fair, open governance framework for critical minerals to underpin the energy transition; and boost climate-action capacity — developed countries should meet commitments, and multilateral development banks and the private sector must scale up climate finance to help developing countries close funding, technology and capacity gaps. He urged greater international cooperation on early warning, risk assessment and disaster risk reduction, and called for mechanisms to enable rapid disbursement from loss-and-damage funds.
