China domestic futures main contracts closed mixed in the morning session: caustic soda and apples fell over 4%, palladium down nearly 4%; platinum, lithium carbonate, coke, Shanghai silver, alumina and glass fell more than 2%. On the upside, styrene (EB) rose over 2%, while methanol and stainless steel (SS) were up nearly 2%.

The Three Gorges reservoir rose to its normal storage level of 175 metres on the afternoon of the 22nd, the Ministry of Water Resources said. This is the 15th time the reservoir has reached full pool and marks completion of the annual storage task for the upstream Yangtze reservoir system centred on Three Gorges. Effective storage in the basin’s controlling reservoirs has again exceeded 100 billion cubic metres, providing a solid base for water supply, irrigation and ecological functions through this winter and next spring.
