China Petroleum News reported China National Petroleum Corp.’s year-to-date
through Q3 ethylene output rose 26.4% YoY to a record high, with total ethylene
capacity now above 12.0 mln tpa; six producers exceed 1.0 mln tpa, boosting
scale advantages. With prolonged Strait of Hormuz transit disruptions and tight
Asian naphtha supply, the output gain is cited as key to stabilizing domestic
chemical-market supply and securing industrial-chain supply. Longzhong data
showed Northeast Asia ethylene spot at $1,190/t on Oct. 23, versus $695/t
pre-conflict, a premium of more than 70%.
