China Petroleum News reported China National Petroleum Corp.’s year-to-date through Q3 ethylene output rose 26.4% YoY to a record high, with total ethylene capacity now above 12.0 mln tpa; six producers exceed 1.0 mln tpa, boosting scale advantages. With prolonged Strait of Hormuz transit disruptions and tight Asian naphtha supply, the output gain is cited as key to stabilizing domestic chemical-market supply and securing industrial-chain supply. Longzhong data showed Northeast Asia ethylene spot at $1,190/t on Oct. 23, versus $695/t pre-conflict, a premium of more than 70%.

JP Morgan Asset Management expanded Asia-Pacific AUM by nearly one-third over the past 12 months to about $400bn, driven chiefly by its wealth management business. The increase puts the firm on course to exceed CEO Dan Watkins’ target set last year to double the region’s assets from $300bn to $600bn by 2030. While institutional clients remain important, most new assets came from high-net-worth investors; private bank assets rose about 50% YoY. Wealth inflows were largely allocated to alternatives—notably hedge funds—and to infrastructure and transport products.
