On May 28, the Ministry of Natural Resources and seven other departments issued the Guiding Opinions on Accelerating High-Quality Development of Marine Drugs and Functional Products, the first national-level policy document on the marine biopharmaceutical industry. The guidance directs coordinated strengthening of a full-chain innovation system covering the "resource chain + science and technology chain + industry chain + application chain", and calls for deep integration of scientific/technological innovation and industrial innovation. It sets targets to 2030 for multiple marine innovative drugs to reach the market and for industry added value to surpass 130 bln yuan.
