Microsoft has launched Scout, an AI assistant integrated into internal email and
calendar systems to operate like a 24/7 executive assistant rather than a
user-visible chatbot. Charles Lamanna, head of commercial apps product
development, said Scout can autonomously perform broader tasks — for example,
rescheduling meetings to resolve time conflicts — and can be shared so employees
can query a manager’s Scout. Microsoft did not disclose pricing; initial use
will require a GitHub Copilot subscription. Lamanna said customer billing will
likely be usage-based rather than a fixed fee, and Microsoft intends to add more
AI products to subscription plans as model-access costs fall.
