S&P 500 snapped a nine-week winning streak.

Meta Platforms (META.O) is considering an equity offering that could raise hundreds of billions of dollars to fund CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s AI expansion, the Financial Times reports. Executives are exploring “innovative” financing as Meta plans to boost AI-related capital expenditure to as much as $145 billion this year and increase it further through 2027. The discussions accelerated after Alphabet’s record $85 billion stock sale this week, which was upsized by $5 billion amid strong demand. Meta has not hired banks and may not proceed; no final decision has been made.

The Baltic Dry Index fell on Friday as Capesize and Panamax freight rates declined. The BDI dropped 56 points, or 1.8%, to 2,981, down 7.5% for the week. The Capesize index fell 147 points, or 2.9%, to 4,893, sliding 11.1% on the week; Capesize average daily earnings fell US$1,333 to US$40,871. The Panamax index fell 18 points to 2,236, down 4.6% for the week; Panamax daily earnings fell US$164 to US$20,121. The Supramax index rose 4 points to 1,588, up 1.2% for the week.
